The Belnord, one of the most elegant pre-war apartment houses in Manhattan, stands on the Upper West Side as a testament to the grandeur of New York City’s early 20th-century Renaissance Revival architecture. Its palatial, proportioned style is as timeless as it is modern, enveloping the senses in artistry the moment one passes through its ornate stone portico.
Yale Stone contributed to the restoration of the Belnord’s lavish lobby, every detail of which, from the sightlines, to the framing of the elevator banks, to the beautifully-restored wrought-iron staircases, was carefully reconsidered and reimagined. Blending Gilded Age elegance with contemporary sophistication, the restoration demonstrates not only Yale Stone’s dedication to excellence in craftsmanship, but also our team’s deep respect for historical patrimony, and expertise in preserving cultural heritage.
The renovation was led by Robert A.M. Stern Architects and executed by Yale Stone’s expert craftsmen. The Belnord, a hallmark of Beaux-Arts design, remains a designated NYC landmark on the list of the National Register of Historic Places.
